MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH DIAMOND

One of my friend Amar first took me to Diamond in one afternoon of June, 1961. Before starting my story I should mention a dream seen by my wife. Since my boyhood I used to like reading the biographies of saints. During that period I was engaged in reading the biography of Raman Maharshi, a saint in India. One morning my wife told me,’ see, last night I saw in a dream that an old man was seated on a platform wearing a dhoti below his waist, bare body and shaved head. The surrounding was a deep forest of primitive age and he was reading a book. Old Rishis surrounding him were listening to his reading with rapt attention. I saw you there also. That old man, pointing towards you told me, ‘he knows about Raman.’ Then the dream went off. Hearing this from my wife I could not understand anything. I thought perhaps she might see Raman Maharshi. Afterwards when I went to Diamond I realized from his figure that my wife saw him beforehand in her dream.
However, that afternoon I went to Diamond and entered into his room. He was seated on the floor near the roadside window. I bowed down to him. He told me to sit on the cot and asked,’ My boy, have you seen any dream?’ I narrated one of my dream where I saw goddess Kali completely naked and was killing all in a war field. Diamond said, ’It is ascent.’
During that time I used to go to Diamond on every Saturday and Sunday. Later on he shifted to Betaitala at Howrah town near Shibpur Botanical garden.
One day such an incident happened which I could never forget in my life. I was listening to the reading of Gospel of sri Ramkrishna and at that moment a thought came in my mind – so many wise people used to come here, should I get the opportunity to read here! All on a sudden I heard the voice of Diamond saying, ’Come, sit there and read Gospel of Sri Ramkrishna.’ At first I could not trace whom he was addressing. But looking at me he again said, ’You come!’ I was spellbound and thought how could he read my mind!
I was really in dark who he was. Still now I could not fathom him.
My first dream about him was such: As if I was in meditation and his huge shadow figure in meditation posture was in front of me. Then the dream went off.
I took my sons to Diamond and they got his blessings. They had dreams about him.
My realizations began to increase after his demise in 1967. The day I took his photo to my home, I dreamt that I was seated in his room at Betaitala and he was seated on my right side. The Gospel of Sri Ramkrishna was kept in front of me. He told me in a louder voice, ’Read!’ Still now I continue this practice of reading daily. My life now is full of bliss by his grace.
